In 2025, Rodby Innovation experienced a period of strong growth, with several strategic installations in the United States and Europe. An increasing number of training centres and elite environments within cross-country skiing and biathlon are investing in treadmill solutions for structured and controlled training.
Demand is driven by the need for training environments where each session can be carried out with high precision, good repeatability, and a high level of safety, independent of weather conditions and season. Rodby Innovation treadmills are used year-round in environments where training quality and long-term development are critical.
Rodby Innovation treadmills are also regarded as a cost-effective investment with a long service life. The robust construction, high operational reliability, and consistent quality level provide the conditions for many years of intensive use. This is a decisive factor for training centres that build their development environments with a long-term perspective.
A clear trend is that elite athletes are installing their own Rodby treadmills for training in home environments. During 2025, several such installations were carried out among the world elite in cross-country skiing and biathlon, including installations for biathletes Lou Jeanmonnot and Dorothea Wierer. In late 2024 and early 2025, Rodby Innovation also received an enquiry regarding the use of a treadmill for start training in luge. Based on Rodby’s technical expertise and experience, a solution was developed and adapted to the specific application.
Prémanon, France – Centre National de Ski Nordique
Rodby Innovation has delivered a rollerski skate treadmill, the RL3500E×2500, to France, installed at the national training centre in Prémanon Centre National de Ski Nordique. The centre is an environment where technology, sports science, and elite athlete development converge.
The facility serves as a base for several of the country’s most promising athletes and is an important part of France’s long-term commitment to Nordic skiing.
With the Rodby rollerski treadmill, coaches now have a tool that enables precise technical fine-tuning, movement analysis, and structured training.
Lenzerheide, Switzerland – Roland Arena
Rodby Innovation has installed a skate treadmill, the RL3500E×2700, in the training environment at the Roland Arena in Lantsch/Lenz. The arena is Switzerland’s only IBU-certified biathlon venue and one of the country’s most significant locations for both biathlon and cross-country skiing. The arena serves as a hub for national team activities, development squads, and international guests, and plays a central role in Switzerland’s long-term commitment to Nordic skiing.
The 2700 mm wide treadmill allows coaches and athletes to work on everything from technical refinement and movement analysis to high-intensity interval training in a controlled environment. Combined with the arena’s testing and training infrastructure, the Rodby Innovation treadmill becomes an important tool within the integrated environment designed to strengthen Swiss endurance sports at an international level.
Salt Lake City, USA – U.S. Ski & Snowboard
Rodby Innovation has installed a custom-designed Safety Framework on the existing Rodby RL3500Ex2700 treadmill at the USANA Center of Excellence, the core of U.S. Ski & Snowboard’s elite performance programme in Salt Lake City, USA.
The centre is an internationally recognised training environment where American World Cup and Olympic athletes are developed with the support of advanced technology and sports science.
With the new Safety Framework solution, an even safer environment has been created for high-intensity and repeatable training.
Pontarlier, France – RL3500E × 2700 at Lou Jeanmonnot
In Pontarlier, Rodby Innovation has installed a skate treadmill, the RL3500E×2700, at the home of Lou Jeanmonnot. She is one of the most notable profiles on the World Cup circuit and illustrates a clear development in the sport, where treadmill-based training has become a central component of performance preparation.
With her own rollerski treadmill, she avoids the risks associated with traffic and winter road conditions, while gaining access to a training environment that allows precise technical refinement with full control over speed, incline, and resistance.
Liberec, Czech Republic – RL3500E × 2500 at Dukla
Rodby Innovation has delivered a rollerski treadmill, the RL3500E×2500, to the Czech Republic, installed at Dukla Liberec, one of the country’s most distinguished elite environments for cross-country skiing.
As part of the Czech Army’s elite sports programme, Dukla provides optimal training conditions for athletes competing at the highest international level. With the Rodby rollerski treadmill, its athletes now have access to precise, repeatable, and advanced training throughout the year.
Lugano, Switzerland – Low-profile RL3500E × 2700
At the newly constructed multi-training centre in Lugano, Switzerland, Rodby Innovation has installed a low-profile RL3500E×2700 treadmill. The treadmill will not be used solely for running or rollerski training.
As the treadmill is equipped with a wheelchair stabilisation system, the facility can also conduct safe and controlled rehabilitation and training sessions for wheelchair users.
A clear trend in Nordic skiing
An increasing number of training centres and athletes are investing in treadmills that offer:
- Stable training conditions throughout the year.
- Precise control in every training session
controlled and repeatable training conditions. - Safe environments without traffic, slippery surfaces, or external risk factors
- Training independent of weather and season.
Treadmill training has evolved from being a complementary tool to becoming an integral part of modern performance development. Many athletes train daily on Rodby Innovation treadmills at their respective training facilities, while an increasing number are also choosing to install a training treadmill in their home environments.
Lou Jeanmonnot – part of the next generation
Lou Jeanmonnot’s installation in France, in Pontarlier, illustrates how today’s top athletes work, with control, repeatability, and quality forming the foundation of every training session. She is part of a new generation that uses treadmill training as a strategic element of performance development and has therefore invested in her own treadmill for home training.
In the footsteps of legendary athletes
Rodby Innovation has long been a natural training tool for some of the world’s most accomplished cross-country skiers and biathletes. Among them are Johannes Thingnes Bø, Ole Einar Bjørndalen, and Petter Northug, Johan Olsson, and Charlotte Kalla, all of whom have used dedicated Rodby systems as a central part of their training.
Their experience demonstrates how long treadmill training has been an important component for those aiming to reach the highest level.
